St. Pius X, is the patron of our School. He is a Saint in the Catholic Christain tradition. He was born in 1835 as the second born of ten children of Giovanni Battista Sarto and Margarita Sanson, in Italy. His name at his birth was Giuseppe Sarto as his mother called him. Giuseppe’s father was a village postman and his family was very poor. But they valued education and send Giuseppe to school. Giuseppe walked 6 kilometres to school each day. He studied Latin from a priest and completed his primary education. He won a scholarship for secondary education and completed his studies in Padua where he finished his classical, philosophical, and theological studies with distinction.
Inspired by the life and faith of his parents and family Out of love for his faith and with a purpose to serve all people he dedicated his life to God and chose to become a priest in the Christian Catholic Faith. In 1858 He was ordained priest at the age of 23. After 26 years, On 10 November 1884, he was appointed bishop of Mantua by pope Leo XIII. In 1893, he was made the Cardinal Patriarch of Venice in 1893. As a bishop, and cardinal patriarch his duty was to lead the people to God. To teach them about faith, and lead them and govern them in faith.
The pope is the supreme head of the Catholic Church. The first pope was St. Peter who was one of the 12 disciples of Christ. The current Pope, Pope Francis is the 266th Pope. Pius the X was the 258th pope for 11 years from 1903-1914.
Though he was the supreme head of the Church, he was noted for his poverty and simplicity of life. He was known for his kindness for the poor. After a great earthquake hit Italy, in Messina, Pius opened his palace for the refugees and homeless so that all can find some rest, food and accommodation. Pope Pius X invited his friends and people he met to eat with him. He ate with the poor and public. He was, in many ways, loved for being an ordinary man who rose to the position of a Pope. He had special love for children and he made many rules in the Church so that children and youth could participate in most of the prayers and religious ceremonies of the church.
The church recognised Pope Pius X as a Saint, as someone with exceptional highest degree of holiness and closeness to God. The Church believes that Saints pray for us and bless us from Heaven.
Our school is named after this Saint. St. Pius is the heavenly patron of our School and of the diocese of Khandwa who runs our school. Inspired Pope St. Pius’ love for children and his commitment to education, the diocese of Khandwa runs 13 higher secondary schools, 14 middle and primary schools within the districts of Khandwa, Burhanpur, Khargone and Barwani.
